Glencoe Fitness is coming to the Takiff Center! In addition to group fitness classes, Glencoe Fitness will have 13 pieces of Precor cardio equipment and 6 strength machines. Free weights, dumbbells, kettlebells, and medicine balls will also be available for self-guided fitness enthusiasts.    

Our inviting, unintimidating, and pristine fitness area will meet all your training needs in a compact environment. You can even track your progress with our state-of-the-art Preva cloud-based fitness app.  

Childcare, personal training and group fitness classes will be offered for an additional fee.

The $125 initiation fee will be waived if you join before January 1, 2018!

Individual

  • 1-year membership $350/525 R/NR
  • 6-month membership $270/405 R/NR
  • Pay-per-month (1-year commitment required for the first year) $40/60 per month R/NR

Additional Family Member

  • 1-year membership (each additional family member) $300/450 R/NR
  • 6-month membership (each additional family member) $250/375 R/NR
  • Pay-per-month (1-year commitment required for the first year) $35/53 per month R/NR

Senior/Student

Students age 14-22 and seniors age 65+ qualify for a discounted rate with proper ID.

Glencoe Park District offers a variety of fitness classes each season - from favorites like yoga and pilates to the latest in fitness trends like dance and barre classes. Start your fitness routine today or add in a new class or two to spice up your regular workout!

To participate in Glencoe Park District fitness classes, patrons may purchase a Fitness Punch Card or pay on a drop-in basis. All Fitness Punch Cards must be purchased before your first class, either in person, online, by mail or fax. Fitness punch cards may not be used to access gym equipment in the fitness area.

Fitness Classes

  • Moving with Weights: This low-impact progressive cardio and weights program strengthens, improves muscle tone and increases bone density. Using various weights, plus simple step moves, this workout increases upper and lower body strength and burns calories. 
  • Werq: This fiercely fun dance fitness workout class is based on pop, rock, and hip hop music and taught by certified fitness professionals. The Werq warm up previews the dance steps used in class and the Werq cool down includes balance and yoga inspired poses. (Coming Fall 2016)
  • Interval Training: Try a fun combination of muscle conditioning and high energy cardio designed to shape your body. Open to every fitness level! 
  • Rowing Fundamentals: This class will introduce you to our rowing machines and teach you the basics of proper rowing form. The focus is on form and individualized attention, don't worry - while you're learning you will also be sweating. Great for new students as well as return clients who want deeper instruction on preoper form. Register for an 8 week session or use your fitness punch card. 
  • Row & Go Circuit: Instructors will combine rowing intervals with dynamics sculpting exercises for the perfect balance of cardio and strength training. This heart-pumping sweat-drenched, total body burn is as fun as it is effective. New to rowing? Don't sweat it - we'll teach teach you everything you need to know. Register for an 8 week session or use your fitness punch card.
  • Beach Bootcamp:  A motivating one hour full body strength and cardio workout at the beautiful Glencoe Beach. Our certified fitness instructor will lead an energizing hour filled with interesting exercises for all fitness levels.
  • Total Strength: A full body strength and conditioning class using free weights, body bars, stability balls, resistance tubing, and your own body to keep your muscles constantly guessing!
  • Paddleboard Yoga: Enjoy the early morning waters of Lake Michigan with awakening, yet powerful postures to prepare you for the day! Join us for a morning yoga paddle along the beautiful shorelines of Glencoe, Winnetka, and Highland Park. Each hour long classs is led by certified yoga instructor Steph Metz. Limited space - sign up early! This class is for ages 18+ and is subject to cancellation based on weather and wave conditions. Drop ins allowed based on availability - $40 drop in fee. Life jackets are provided.
  • Paddleboard Fitness: We will focus on repetitive strokes and core exercises on our paddle boards. Each hour class is led by certified yoga instructor, Steph Metz. Limited space - sign up early! This class is for ages 18+ and is subject to cancellation based on weather and wave conditions. Drop ins allowed based on availability - $40 drop in fee. Life jackets are provided.

Yoga

  • Hatha Yoga: Increase your strength, stamina, and flexibility. Classes teach the basic yoga poses, which are adapted for your level.
  • Balance Board Yoga: This class is a fun, challenging, yet accessible Vinyasa style class. Practice a straight forward, well rounded flow that incorporates use of balance boards. Learn to move from the center of the body to strengthen your core. Find better balance, greater range of movement and get ready for stand-up paddle boarding this summer at Glencoe Beach! Class size is limited - early arrival is recommended.

For four weeks, you and a group of other new students will learn basic poses and sequences, along with information about the benefits of yoga for you. The Glencoe Park District is happy to be partnering with Reach Yoga for these programs.

Jazz Dance

with Julie Kaplan (Thursdays, 9:40-11 AM)
Enjoy great music and dance combinations in this choreographed class. Recommended for dancers with experience in modern, jazz or ballet. Abs and core work are included. This is a registered class; you must sign a waiver before attending. This is a non-punch card class; pre-registration is required. Drop in fee: $20 per class 

Beginner Yoga

The Yoga Beginner Series is geared to those who have never (or barely) tried yoga. For four weeks, you and a group of other new students will learn basic poses and sequences, along with information about the benefits of yoga for you. The Glencoe Park District is happy to be partnering with Reach Yoga for these programs.
